Polar Express - Train shots on the spiral mountain (Sony Pictures Imageworks)

Final lighting and compositing for this shot included many lights from the glowing star effects,moonlight, and all train lighting. The camera moves from back to front around the multiple source lit characters for these shots making them quite complicated with animated particle lights and glowing sources. All lighting work was done using Sony’s Birps software (RIP), rendered with Renderman, then composited with Bonsai (Shake-like process tree software).
